Mat got his first interview today! We got an invitation from Indiana University School of Medicine and they want Mat to come and interview. Let me be the first to tell you this is INCREDIBLE. Up to this point, I have been doubting us getting into Medical school, not because I doubt Mat and his abilities, no because he's incredible. I was just really struggling believing he would even get an interview. If you've never applied to Medical School I'm sure you're thinking wow that's terrible she didn't think they would get accepted. No, I think we will get into medical school but the doubt I have daily is just blowing to my self-esteem. Mat is amazing and will one day be such an amazing doctor, and I'm so happy I get to be the one who pushes him and helps him succeed along the way. It is SO hard to apply to medical school, but we are doing it for the second time. This is just proof that one can succeed when they truly believe in something. I just wanted to post this short and simple post because Mat did it. He got an interview and next step will be acceptances and more money on deposits. ;) 

MAT DIDN'T GET INTO MEDICAL SCHOOL! 
I may have lost my mind the day it finally set in that Mat was not going to be getting any offers for medical school.

We should have realized it wasn't going to happen when it was March and we still hadn't heard back but I had high hopes still in the fact that my amazingly smart and talented husband would get into medical school. But finally we came to terms with it and he didn't get in and then the anxiety came and I started to freak out and had to plan what we would do for the next year and six months after his masters program was over. I freaked out because that's just what I do, then I picked up my hopes shattered on the ground and knew that he was still going to medical school, just not this year.  So we had to bite the bullet and reapply, shouldn't be too hard right. While it's not too difficult its just time consuming and expensive.


WE DID IT though! We reapplied to medical school, early this time, all while living apart. I got a job where we can live rent "free" for the year. Mat also received a position at an Urgent Care Clinic which he LOVES. We are only about 3 miles away from Mats new job, he gets to pedal his bike right on down to work almost daily, unless he's running late, which RARELY happens. And we get to spend lots of time with my brother, Daniel, well I get to spend time with him at least, Mat works late and fills out secondaries every chance he gets. We reapplied to medical school and are finishing up our final secondaries and are now just awaiting for interview invitations to start coming in through email.

If they say its hard to apply to medical school, try applying twice. It was hard, the one thing I hated was people asking in April if we would be going to medical school, no we aren't. They would then ask a whole slew of questions like oh why not, that's terrible what are you going to do now? all sorts of terrible things followed up by no advice because they didn't know what it was like. But we answered their silly questions and smiled when they tried to empathize. The moment came though when we had to choose ourselves to not let one failure make us change our lives course.
